Sewage stink from under the sink

Old air admittance valve with a screw stuck in the seal.
AAV – Air admittance valve, with a stinky modification

This home owner was surprised to find the culprit of their stinky sink was a “modified” air admittance valve underneath their cupboards which was allowing sewage gasses to come up through their waste lines. Replacing this valve only took an hour and we adjusted the drain slope, secured the pipes, and filled in some gaps around the pipes going into the wall while we were in there.
